''Arabia Felix'' (lit. ''Happy Arabia''; also Greek: ''Eudaimon Arabia'') was the Latin name previously used by geographers to describe the southern part of the Arabian Peninsula, Yemen, a country with an extensive history.〔''Webster's New Geographical Dictionary'' (Springfield, Mass., 1972), p. 63.〕 ==Name== The term "Happy Arabia" is a translation of the Latin "Arabia felix." ''Felix'' means "fecund, fertile" but also "happy, fortunate, blessed." Arabia Felix was one of three regions into which the Romans divided the Arabian peninsula: Arabia Deserta, Arabia Felix, and Arabia Petraea.
